Terms of Service

Effective May 20, 2026 · Last updated May 20, 2026

Welcome to Greatr. These Terms of Service (“Terms”) are the agreement between you and Greatr ehf. (“Greatr”, “we”, “us”, or “our”) that governs your access to and use of the Greatr mobile application, our website at greatrapp.com, and any related services (together, the “Service”). Please read them carefully. They are written to be understandable, not impressive.

If anything below is unclear, write to us at privacy@greatrapp.com and we will explain.

1. Acceptance of these Terms

By installing, opening, or using Greatr, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

By creating an account, downloading the app, or otherwise accessing or using the Service, you confirm that you have read, understood, and accepted these Terms, together with our Privacy Policy. If you are using the Service on behalf of another person, you confirm that you have the authority to bind that person to these Terms.

If you do not agree to these Terms, you must stop using the Service and uninstall the app.

2. About Greatr

Greatr is operated by Greatr ehf., an Icelandic private limited company. We build habit and routine tools.

Greatr is a habit and routine product. It helps you build daily habits, stack them into rituals, track streaks, and reflect on progress across categories such as meditation, reading, and journaling.

The Service is operated by:

  • Greatr ehf. (einkahlutafélag), an Icelandic private limited company
  • Registered office: Álfabakka 14A, 109 Reykjavík, Iceland
  • Registration number (kennitala): 420326-1300
  • Contact for all legal, privacy, billing, and support questions: privacy@greatrapp.com

Greatr is the publisher and provider of the Service. References in these Terms to “we”, “us”, or “our” mean Greatr ehf.

3. Who can use Greatr

You must be at least 16 in the EU/EEA, or at least 13 elsewhere unless your local law sets a higher age.

To use the Service you must be:

  • at least 16 years old if you are in the European Union, the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or Switzerland; or
  • at least 13 years old elsewhere, unless the law where you live sets a higher minimum age, in which case that higher age applies.

Greatr is not intended for children below these ages. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has created an account, contact us at privacy@greatrapp.com and we will delete it.

You also confirm that you are not barred from using the Service under the laws of Iceland, your country of residence, or any other applicable jurisdiction.

4. Your account

One account per person. Keep your credentials safe. Tell us if something goes wrong.

To use most features of Greatr you need an account. When you create one you agree that:

  • you will provide accurate information and keep it up to date;
  • you will create only one account per person and will not impersonate anyone else;
  • you are responsible for everything that happens under your account, including any subscriptions purchased through it;
  • you will keep your password and any sign-in tokens confidential and will not share them;
  • you will notify us promptly at privacy@greatrapp.com if you suspect any unauthorised use of your account.

You can sign in with email and password, Apple Sign-In, or Google Sign-In. Each of these is governed by the respective provider’s terms in addition to ours.

We may suspend or close your account if you violate these Terms, if we are required to do so by law, or to protect the Service or other users (see Section 11).

5. Subscriptions and billing

Greatr offers auto-renewable subscriptions. They renew automatically until you cancel. Cancellation is done in your App Store or Play Store account, not inside the app.

5.1 What we offer

Greatr offers premium access through auto-renewable subscriptions on Apple’s App Store and Google Play. We offer plans on different billing intervals (for example weekly, monthly, and yearly).

The exact subscription options, the price, and the renewal period are always shown to you in the app on the subscription screen before you confirm purchase. Prices are shown in your local currency at the equivalent price set by Apple or Google for your region. Local taxes may apply depending on where you live.

We may add, remove, rename, or reprice plans from time to time. Any change applies to new purchases and renewals only. If we change the price of an existing subscription, we will give you advance notice through the app and through your store account in line with Apple’s and Google’s policies, and you will have the chance to cancel before the new price takes effect.

5.2 Payment and how billing works

When you confirm purchase, payment is charged to your Apple ID or Google account at the price and on the schedule shown on the subscription screen. Greatr does not receive or store your payment card details, bank information, or billing address. All payment processing is handled by Apple or Google.

5.3 Automatic renewal

Your subscription automatically renews at the end of each billing period (weekly, monthly, or yearly) for the same period and at the then-current price, unless you cancel it at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Your Apple or Google account will be charged for renewal within 24 hours before the end of the current period.

Auto-renewal continues until you cancel. Subscriptions do not expire on their own.

5.4 How to manage or cancel

You can view, manage, and cancel your subscription at any time directly in the store you bought it from:

  • iOS (App Store): open the Settings app on your iPhone or iPad, tap your name at the top, then tap Subscriptions, choose Greatr, and tap Cancel Subscription.
  • Android (Google Play): open the Play Store app, tap your profile picture, then Payments & subscriptions > Subscriptions, choose Greatr, and tap Cancel subscription.

Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period. Until then, you keep access to premium features.

Uninstalling the Greatr app does not cancel your subscription. You must cancel through Apple or Google as described above. If you delete your Greatr account but do not cancel through Apple or Google, you will continue to be billed until you cancel in the store.

5.5 Free trials and introductory offers

Greatr does not offer a free trial at the moment. If we introduce one in the future, the trial length and the price that will be charged when it ends will be clearly shown on the subscription screen before you opt in. Any unused portion of a free trial period is forfeited when you purchase a subscription, where required by Apple’s terms.

5.6 Price changes

We may change subscription prices from time to time. If we do, we will give you reasonable advance notice through the app, by email, or as required by Apple or Google. Price changes will not apply to your current billing period. Where Apple or Google requires your explicit consent to a price increase, your subscription will not renew at the new price unless you consent. Otherwise, continuing your subscription after a price change takes effect means you accept the new price.

5.7 Grandfathered lifetime access

A small group of early users who created Greatr accounts before our public launch have been granted lifetime free access to premium features as a thank-you for supporting the product early. If this applies to you, no subscription is required and you will not be billed. We reserve the right to define the scope of lifetime access (which features are included) and to reasonably modify it if the product evolves substantially, provided we do not strip away the core value of the access.

5.8 Apple’s standard EULA

When you download Greatr from the App Store, your use is also governed by Apple’s standard end-user licence agreement for licensed applications, available at https://www.apple.com/legal/internet-services/itunes/dev/stdeula/. In the event of a conflict between Apple’s EULA and these Terms with respect to the App Store version of Greatr, Apple’s EULA applies only to the extent strictly necessary; otherwise these Terms govern.

6. Refunds

Refunds for store-purchased subscriptions are handled by Apple or Google, not by us. EU consumers have specific withdrawal rights.

All Greatr subscriptions are purchased through Apple or Google, and refunds for those subscriptions are handled by Apple or Google under their own policies. We cannot directly issue refunds for purchases made through the App Store or Play Store.

To request a refund:

If you are a consumer in the EU/EEA, the UK, or Switzerland, you may have a statutory right of withdrawal within 14 days of purchasing digital content. By starting to use the premium features immediately after purchase, you may expressly waive that right and acknowledge that you lose it once supply of the digital content begins, in line with the EU Consumer Rights Directive. This does not affect any non-waivable rights you have under your local consumer law.

If a refund issue cannot be resolved by Apple or Google, write to us at privacy@greatrapp.com and we will help where we can.

7. Acceptable use

Use Greatr for what it is. Do not break it, abuse it, or use it against other people.

When using the Service, you agree that you will not:

  • copy, modify, distribute, sell, lease, or sublicense any part of the Service;
  • reverse engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract the source code of the app, except to the limited extent permitted by applicable law;
  • scrape, crawl, or use automated means to access the Service, or attempt to access it other than through the interfaces we provide;
  • probe, scan, or test the vulnerability of the Service, breach security or authentication measures, or interfere with other users’ access;
  • upload, submit, or transmit content that is unlawful, infringing, defamatory, harassing, hateful, sexually exploitative of minors, or otherwise objectionable;
  • impersonate any person or entity, or misrepresent your affiliation with anyone;
  • use the Service to send unsolicited communications, to distribute malware, or for any other illegal purpose;
  • circumvent any limitations of free or paid tiers, or attempt to obtain premium features without paying for them;
  • use the Service in any way that violates applicable laws, including export control, sanctions, and consumer protection laws.

We may remove content, suspend, or terminate access if we reasonably believe you have violated this section.

8. Your content

Your journal entries, custom habit names, and profile information stay yours. You give us only the minimal permission we need to show your content back to you.

The Service lets you create content - including journal entries, custom habit and ritual names, notes, your display name, bio, and profile picture (“Your Content”).

You own Your Content. We do not claim any ownership over it.

To run the Service, you grant Greatr a limited, worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, store, reproduce, and display Your Content solely for the purpose of operating the Service for you - that is, syncing it across your devices, backing it up, showing it back to you, and presenting it on shared surfaces inside Greatr that you explicitly choose (such as a public display name on the leaderboard, if you opt in). This licence ends when you delete Your Content or close your account, subject to short technical retention windows described in our Privacy Policy.

We do not use journal content to train any machine-learning model, and we do not sell Your Content to anyone. See our Privacy Policy for full detail on how we handle the things you write.

You are responsible for Your Content. You confirm that you have all rights necessary to upload it and that it does not violate any law or any third party’s rights.

9. Intellectual property

The Greatr app, brand, and design belong to us. Don’t copy them.

The Service, including its software, design, user interface, copy, illustrations, sounds, the “Greatr” name and logo, and all related intellectual property, is owned by Greatr ehf. or our licensors and is protected by intellectual property and other laws. These Terms do not transfer any of those rights to you.

We grant you a personal, non-transferable, non-exclusive, revocable licence to install and use the Greatr app on devices you own or control, solely for your personal, non-commercial use, in accordance with these Terms and the store’s terms (Apple or Google).

All rights not expressly granted are reserved.

10. Feedback

If you send us ideas, we can use them.

If you choose to send us suggestions, feedback, or ideas about the Service, you agree we may use them without obligation or compensation. We will not associate public feedback with you without your permission.

11. Termination

You can delete your account anytime. We can terminate accounts that violate these Terms.

You can stop using Greatr at any time. To delete your account, open the app, go to Profile, then Account, then Delete account. Account deletion is irreversible: we will delete your habits, rituals, journal entries, and other personal content as described in our Privacy Policy.

We may suspend or terminate your account, or restrict your access to the Service, if:

  • you materially violate these Terms or our Acceptable Use rules;
  • we are required to do so by law or by an order from a competent authority;
  • continued provision of the Service to you would expose Greatr or other users to legal or security risk;
  • you have not used your account for an extended period and we have given you reasonable notice.

Where reasonable and lawful, we will give you advance notice and an opportunity to remedy the issue. If your account is terminated for cause, you remain responsible for any amounts already owed and you may lose access to subscription features without refund of unused periods.

Deleting your Greatr account does not automatically cancel your App Store or Google Play subscription. See Section 5.4.

12. Disclaimers

Greatr is provided as-is. It is not a substitute for medical, mental health, or professional advice.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, the Service is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including any implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, or that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, secure, or free of viruses or other harmful components.

Greatr is a personal development product. It is not a medical device, not a clinical service, and not a substitute for professional advice, diagnosis, or treatment. The meditation, reading, journaling, and habit features are intended to support your own self-directed growth. If you are dealing with a medical condition, mental health concern, or any situation that needs professional support, consult a qualified professional. In an emergency, contact your local emergency services.

This section does not exclude or limit any rights you have as a consumer under mandatory law.

13. Limitation of liability

Our liability is capped, with normal carve-outs for things the law does not let us limit.

To the maximum extent permitted by law:

  • Greatr, its directors, employees, and contractors will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits, revenues, goodwill, or data, arising out of or related to your use of, or inability to use, the Service;
  • Greatr’s total aggregate liability for any claim arising out of or related to the Service is limited to the greater of (a) the amount you paid Greatr for the Service in the 12 months preceding the event giving rise to the claim, or (b) EUR 50.

Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits Greatr’s liability for:

  • death or personal injury caused by our negligence;
  • fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation;
  • gross negligence or wilful misconduct;
  • any liability that cannot be limited or excluded by applicable law, including the mandatory consumer protection rights of users in the EU/EEA.

14. Indemnification

If you break these Terms and a third party sues us because of it, you are responsible for that.

You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless Greatr ehf. and its directors, employees, and contractors from and against any claims, liabilities, damages, losses, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of or in any way connected with:

  • your breach of these Terms;
  • your violation of any law or the rights of a third party;
  • Your Content, where it infringes a third party’s rights or breaks the law.

We will likewise defend you against third-party claims arising out of our own material breach of these Terms, on equivalent terms, to the extent permitted by law.

15. Changes to these Terms

We can update these Terms. We will tell you. If you keep using Greatr, you accept the new version.

We may update these Terms from time to time, for example to reflect changes to the Service, new features, legal requirements, or pricing structures. When we make material changes we will notify you in the app, by email, or on our website at least 14 days before they take effect, except where a shorter notice period is required by law or to address an urgent security or legal issue.

If you continue to use the Service after the new Terms take effect, you accept them. If you do not agree to the changes, you must stop using the Service and may close your account.

The “Last updated” date at the top of this document will always reflect the latest version.

16. Governing law

Icelandic law governs these Terms. EU consumers keep the protections of their home country.

These Terms and any dispute or claim arising out of or in connection with them or their subject matter are governed by the laws of Iceland, without regard to its conflict-of-laws principles.

If you are a consumer resident in the European Union, the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or Switzerland, you also benefit from any mandatory protections of the law of the country in which you live, and nothing in these Terms removes those protections.

17. Dispute resolution

First, try writing to us. If that fails, courts. EU consumers can sue at home or via the ODR platform.

If you have a dispute with us, please first contact us at privacy@greatrapp.com so we can try to resolve it informally. We take complaints seriously and most issues can be sorted out by email within a few business days.

If we cannot resolve a dispute informally, the courts of Reykjavík, Iceland will have exclusive jurisdiction, subject to the following:

  • If you are a consumer resident in the EU/EEA, the UK, or Switzerland, you may also bring proceedings in the courts of the country where you live, and proceedings against you may only be brought in those courts.
  • EU consumers may also use the European Commission’s online dispute resolution (ODR) platform at https://ec.europa.eu/consumers/odr to submit complaints. We are not obliged to participate in alternative dispute resolution before a consumer arbitration body, but we will consider it case by case.

Nothing in this section prevents either of us from seeking urgent injunctive or equitable relief in any competent court.

18. Miscellaneous

Standard legal cleanup.

  • Entire agreement. These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy and any additional terms expressly referenced (including Apple’s EULA where relevant), are the entire agreement between you and Greatr concerning the Service.
  • Severability. If any part of these Terms is held to be unenforceable, the rest will remain in full effect, and the unenforceable part will be modified to the minimum extent necessary to make it enforceable.
  • No waiver. If we do not enforce a right under these Terms, that does not mean we waive it.
  • Assignment. You may not assign or transfer your rights under these Terms without our consent. We may assign these Terms to an affiliate or to a successor in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of substantially all of our assets, subject to applicable consumer protection law.
  • Notices. We may give notices through the app, by email to the address on your account, or on our website. You should send notices to us at privacy@greatrapp.com.
  • Force majeure. Neither party is liable for failure to perform caused by events beyond reasonable control, such as natural disasters, war, civil unrest, strikes, network or infrastructure outages, or actions of government authorities.
